Reading Assignment - Class #24

Please read mitzvot #123 and #125 – 130.  Please try to find the answers to the following questions:

Mitzvah #123:

A person brings a hattat for certain sins done b’shogeg.  The author explains a difference between what the person needs to be unaware of for most sins and for the sin of entering the Temple while tamei.  What is the difference?  How do the rabbis find that difference in the source verses?

Mitzvah #127:

  1. Someone who misappropriates Temple property must bring an asham, restore the property and pay a penalty.  Does the person have to do those things if the property was something the cohanim had a mitzvah to eat?
  2. Does the person have to do those things if the person took a coin from the Temple treasury and does not spend it?

Mitzvah #128:

  1. What is the general rule that defines when a person is required to bring an asham talui?
  2. The author describes a case where someone had two servings of food, one helev and one permitted, and the person eats one but does not know if it was the helev or the permitted food.  He says that is different from a case where the person had permitted food and food that might be helev.  Similarly, the author describes a case where a man has sex with a woman who had been married but might or might not have gotten a divorce.  He distinguishes that from a case where the woman was single and might or might not have gotten married.  What is the distinguishing feature between those two sets of cases?
